A Word From The Shepherd
The Christian Church in the first century had a vibrancy not seen in most churches today. It’s members felt an urgency about fulfilling their purpose in the world. Their experience of God and their expectation of heaven were so tangible that persecution and even death could not prevent them from exhibiting their bold faith. The people in the church were awed by the presence and power of God. And those who did not yet have faith - who watched the church and Christians - were moved by the transforming power of God working to improve the lives of those who believed. Have you ever wondered what it would have been like to have lived in those days? Have you ever experienced the thrilling power of God working in and through your own life? What would it be like to live with such a divine calling and confidence, that even the threat of death was seen as an opportunity to live for God. This Sunday we will revisit the first Christian Pentecost to ponder this historic account of the coming of the Holy Spirit. And more importantly, we will be invited to engage this same Holy Spirit, to experience His life-transforming power.
